When the cub was outside of earshot, Scar ordered the hyenas to kill him, and so they quickly took chase. With all the hyenas in incredibly hot pursuit, Simba ran out in the gorge and fell right into a thorn patch. Unwilling to pursue him in to the thorns, the hyenas remaining him for useless and noted to Scar that they had completed the job.[one]
